BREPOINT BEDFORD PROMOTIONAL VIDEO
Construction time-lapse drone video for Brewpoint
This was a large-scale and highly creative project that pushed the boundaries of what is typically expected from a construction time-lapse drone video. As far as we are aware, this approach had not been attempted in quite this way before. The client, Brewpoint, wanted a full visual record of their build from start to finish, but rather than relying on traditional time-lapse methods, we worked together to create something far more engaging and natural.
A standard construction time-lapse drone video often involves fixed cameras mounted on scaffolding, capturing still images at regular intervals. These images are then sped up in post production to show the build process unfolding quickly. While effective, this method is something most people have seen many times before. For this Brewpoint project, the goal was to move away from that familiar style and produce a construction time-lapse drone video that felt more cinematic and realistic.
Rethinking the construction time-lapse drone video approach FOR BREWPOINT
Instead of using static cameras, we developed a new method for this construction time-lapse drone video. The idea was to position the drone in exactly the same place and at the same height during key stages of the build. At each of these points, we recorded around ten seconds of standard video footage rather than taking still images.
These clips would later be blended together in post production using smooth dissolves. This approach meant that instead of a fast, sped-up sequence, the final construction time-lapse drone video would show the building evolving in a much more natural and visually pleasing way.
By avoiding the typical “sped-up” effect, we were able to create a construction time-lapse drone video for Brewpoint that feels more like a cinematic journey through the build rather than a technical overview.
Capturing key stages with construction time-lapse drone video
A crucial part of this project was deciding when to capture each stage of the build. Rather than filming at fixed intervals, we chose moments where there had been significant visual progress. This ensured that each clip contributed meaningfully to the final construction time-lapse drone video.
This selective approach helped highlight the most important developments throughout the project. Each segment of footage represents a key milestone, allowing viewers to clearly see how the structure evolved over time.
The result is a construction time-lapse drone video that focuses on transformation rather than simply the passage of time.
Challenges of maintaining consistency
One of the biggest challenges in creating this construction time-lapse drone video for Brewpoint was maintaining consistency between shots. For the effect to work, the drone needed to be positioned as closely as possible to the same coordinates and height each time filming took place.
This became particularly difficult during the winter months. Weather conditions such as wind and changing light made it harder to match each shot perfectly. However, careful piloting and attention to detail ensured that the footage remained as consistent as possible.
Even small variations in positioning can be noticeable when clips are blended together, so precision was essential throughout the entire process.
Using editing techniques to perfect the construction time-lapse drone video
Post production played a major role in bringing this construction time-lapse drone video together. While we worked hard to capture each shot as consistently as possible, subtle differences were inevitable.
By making full use of 4K resolution, we were able to fine-tune each clip during editing. This allowed us to align key visual elements from one shot to the next, ensuring smooth transitions throughout the final video.
The dissolving technique used between clips helped create a seamless flow, giving the impression that the building is naturally evolving in front of the viewer. This is what gives the construction time-lapse drone video its distinctive look and feel.
A more natural and engaging visual story
One of the biggest advantages of this approach is the way it changes how the build process is perceived. Traditional time-lapse can sometimes feel rushed or overly mechanical due to the speed at which everything happens.
This construction time-lapse drone video, however, presents the build in a much softer and more realistic way. The viewer is able to appreciate each stage without the distraction of extreme speed or abrupt transitions.
By focusing on smooth progression rather than rapid change, the video becomes more engaging and easier to follow.
Showcasing the build from start to finish
The final result is a construction time-lapse drone video that documents the entire Brewpoint build in a unique and visually compelling way. From the earliest stages through to completion, each phase is represented clearly and creatively.
This method provides a strong balance between technical documentation and visual storytelling. It not only shows what was built, but also how it came together over time.
For Brewpoint, this created a valuable piece of content that can be used for marketing, presentations and long-term documentation.
A unique take on construction time-lapse drone video
This project stands out as one of the most innovative approaches we have taken to construction filming. By rethinking the traditional time-lapse format, we were able to deliver something that feels fresh and original.
The combination of precise drone positioning, carefully selected moments and advanced editing techniques resulted in a construction time-lapse drone video that is both informative and visually striking.
It demonstrates how creative thinking can transform a familiar concept into something far more engaging.
Creating original construction time-lapse drone video content
Projects like this highlight the potential of drone technology when combined with creative planning. A construction time-lapse drone video does not have to follow the same formula every time.
By experimenting with new techniques and focusing on storytelling, it is possible to create content that stands out and leaves a lasting impression.
This production is a great example of how a different approach can elevate a project, resulting in a final video that not only documents a build but also tells its story in a unique and memorable way.
